    Bertram Priestman (1868-1951) British. R.A. R.O.I. N.E.A.C, ‘Pastoral Landscape with Cattle’

    Bertram Priestman is regarded as one of the most significant painters of his time, best known for his atmospheric ‘plein air’ landscapes with an emphasis on skies. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1889, at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the New England Art Club. His work is represented in the permanent collection of the Royal Academy in London.

    Oil on canvas, signed & dated '05 bottom left. Set within a truly exceptional & richly gilded period frame. Framed dimensions, 27” x 34.5”.

    It was stated by noted British artist Sir Frank Brangwyn, that Priestman "was the finest sky painter of his day”.
