An Exceptionally Fine 19th Century Japanese Satsuma Vase, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
The quatrefoil shaped body profusely decorated in gilt and hand painted panels of geishas, scholars and Buddhistic deities, the underside bearing satsuma marks & Shimazu family crest in gilt against a grey field. Raised overall upon its original and intricately carved & pierced wooden stand.
Height of vase, 12”, height of stand, 2”.
In excellent overall condition with very minor rubbing, repair to one support of wooden base.
