An Early 19th Century Chinese Export Lacquer & Gilt Decorated Tea Caddy, Canton Circa 1830
The quatra-foil shaped exterior decorated with gilt detail against a black lacquer field, opening to a pewter compartment with a hinged lid engraved with two figures in a garden setting, raised overall upon later gilt metal paw feet. Areas of rubbing and minor wear commensurate with age & use.
Dimensions, 4.75” high x 9” wide x 7” deep.
A more practical use of this item might be that of a cigar humidor.
