An Early 18th Century Bronze Dog-Nose Spoon Mould, British / American, Circa 1710
An early 18th century spoon mould comprised of 2 halves that form a mould for a Hanoverian 'rat-tail' dog nose tablespoon. Both halves exhibiting a very old untouched surface & patina both inside and out.
Spoon moulds were originally of British manufacture dating back to the 17th century, however virtually identical examples were also manufactured by British settlers who immigrated to the new world colonies, making it very difficult to differentiate between those made in Britain or in America.
