A Very Fine Rosewood and Tunbridge Ware Writing Box, English Circa 1840
The figured rosewood case having a hinged top centred by a diamond shaped marquetry motif, the perimeter banded with an intricate ‘Greek Key’ border of contrasting exotic woods, the front panel similarly decorated and retaining its original & functioning locking mechanism and key. The interior fitted with a gilt-tooled leather-lined writing surface, two hinged document compartments, pen tray & inkwell. Dimensions, 5” high x 10.5” wide x 8.5” deep
