  • A Very Fine Pair of George III Style Gilt Bronze Cassolettes / Candlesticks, Circa 1880

     

    After a design by Matthew Boulton (1728-1809), showing a pair of finely gilded amphora shaped bodies decorated with neoclassical elements of ram’s heads & bellflower swags. Both feature socle shaped tops that convert into candleholders when removed, then rotated upside down and placed back into their respective bases. Raised upon fluted columns ringed by laurel wreath mounts, mounted atop squared & stepped bases on turned supports.

    Dimensions, 9.25” high x 3.25” wide x 3” deep.
