A Burl Walnut & Brass Bound Document Box / Jewellery Casket, England Circa 1860 The highly figured burr walnut exterior banded with bone strapping and applied brass elements, the domed lid centred by a pierced brass cartouche engraved with the Prince of Wales Feathers together with the motto ‘Ich Dien’ (I Serve), repeated again on the two smaller cartouches mounted on its front, retaining what appears to be its original lock mechanism and exhibiting a fine old French polish finish overall. The interior lined in a textured, forest green faux-leather material within a gilt scrolled border.
