A Very Fine 18th Century Chippendale Rococo-Period Mahogany Tea Caddy, English Circa 1760
The highly figured mahogany case retains its original foliate-cast & gilded brass escutcheon, bail handle & pierced back-plates, fitted with a hinged cavetto-shaped & crossbanded top opening to an interior housing three recessed pewter canisters, raised overall upon ogee bracket feet.
The underside bearing possible makers marks in script C / E.
Dimensions, 6” high x 10” wide x 6” deep
A very fine example in richly figured timber and exhibiting a warm old patina, in extremely good condition overall.
