A Finely Detailed Spelter & Soapstone Grouping of Neptune / Poseidon, Circa 1890

The finely cast spelter figure of the Roman God Neptune aka the Greek God Poseidon, dramatically poised with trident in hand, seated atop a realistically modelled hand-carved rocky mound of solid red soapstone. Raised overall upon a circular spelter base atop shell shaped supports & splayed supports.

Overall height, 19.75".
 

Apparently unsigned but possibly cast by, or inspired by a larger work by the J. W. Fiske Foundry NYC (1832-1903).
