  • A Fine Arts & Crafts Wrought Iron & Parcel Gilt Fire Grate / Basket, Circa 1890

     

    A very handsome19th century wrought iron & parcel gilt Arts & Crafts fire grate / basket, together with it's original integral andirons. The fire basket is fitted with a removable bottom grate, over a brass apron with cast iron anthemia appliques, and sided by a pair of organic inspired andirons with leaf shaped supports, rising to stylized gilt bronze finials in the form of flowering urns.       The reverse of the back is stamped with foundry marks for noted New York City foundry, William H. Jackson Company, New York City. Dimensions, 24” high x 34” wide x 16” deep. 
    In very good overall condition, cosmetically restored but without any structural changes.

     

    The William H. Jackson foundry has been producing high quality metalware since 1827 and are still in production today.
