  • A Fine Arts & Crafts Period Sterling Silver Hot Milk / Hot Water Pot, London 1897

    A fine & visually striking Arts & Crafts Period sterling silver hot water / hot milk pot, showing a sculptural baluster shaped body expertly worked with swirling fluted panels, rising to a conforming hinged top above a spout with embossed organic decoration and fitted with a carved & stained fruitwood handle. Bearing impressed London hallmarks & date mark for 1897 and maker’s marks for William Hutton & Sons, Ltd., the front engraved with dedication & monogram. Height, 8.5". Overall weight, 359 grams.

    (The firm of William Hutton & Sons originated in Birmingham in 1800 then opened their London showroom in 1863. Their work is highly regarded both for their designs as well as for the overall quality of workmanship, specifically those items made during the Arts & Crafts period).
