A Pair 18th Century Georgian Portraits in Fine Giltwood Frames, Irish Circa 1790

  • A Pair 18th Century Georgian Portraits in Fine Giltwood Frames, Irish Circa 1790

A very handsome and well executed pair of 18th century pastel portraits on paper, both laid down on canvas and set within what appear to be their original period giltwood frames. The reverse of both panels retaining remnants of old handwritten paper labels denoting the sitters as being those of William Pritchard, together with his wife Sarah Pritchard (nee FitzGerald), purportedly a family relation to James FitzGerald, 1st Marquess of Kildare & Duke of Leinster. Both pastels remain in very good condition with the exception of a few minor blemishes, the foundations are quite sound as well some with minor separations observed in the upper right corner and left side of the portrait of William Pritchard.

(For the benefit of viewing clarity, the glass panels were removed prior to photography).

    Dimensions: (sight) 20" high x 16" wide, (framed) 28.5" high x 24"
