A Fine 18th Century Neoclassical Georgian Sterling Silver Tea Urn, Hallmarked London 1783
A fine and diminutive 18th century Neoclassical sterling silver tea urn / samovar, having an urn-shaped body fitted with a detachable lid, sided by reeded up-swept handles with palmette mounts, the reeded spigot fitted with its original carved ivory finial insulator. The front engraved with period decoration of swags & garlands above a monogrammed oval cartouche. Raised overall upon a spreading circular foot atop a squared base with ball shaped supports. The underside bearing impressed London hallmarks and date marks for 1783, maker’s marks illegible. In very fine overall condition. Weight 40 troy ounces (1248 grams). Height, 14.5”
